UTAG FINALLY DECLARES STRIKE ACTION TODAY EFFECTIVE ON 17TH OF OCTOBER, 2022

 



Matters Arising >>The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) and four other major labor unions in Ghana's public universities have announced an indefinite strike that will begin on Monday, October 17, 2022.



This is because on Friday, October 14, at a meeting hosted by the National Labor Commission (NLC), the government rejected a "suggestion" regarding their demands.




The four labor unions—UTAG, Teachers and Educational Workers Union-Ghana (TEWU-GH), Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), and Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG)—were meeting to settle their demands for fuel, vehicle maintenance, and off-campus allowances.


However, the labor unions stated in a strike notice that the employer "has, once again, failed to adhere to the directive of the NLC.
