 The Office of the President has appointed Dr. Eric Nkansah as the new Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES). Although his appointment is provisional, it will be effective immediately pending consultation with the GES Board and Public Service Commission. Dr. Eric Encancer has indicated he will accept the role within 14 days, the president said in the letter. It was also one day after Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa was dismissed because his services at the GES were no longer needed. A 14-year-old candidate taking the 2022 Basic Education certification Examination BECE  in Barekese, Atwima Nwabiagya North District, was forced to deec@te at one of the exam centers. A student at an illegal D/A middle school, the boy was reportedly denied an earlier call to his supervisor to address a call of nature during an exam. The boy who couldn't stand it cut the exam in the middle. In an exclusive interview with OTEC News, Kwame Agenim, chairman of the Rockson Ntiamoah Fohuo Constituency Commission, confirmed the incident and said he was concerned. They accused her Barekese High School tutor, who was a member of the center's supervisory board, of refusing to let the boy out over claims the candidate might bring foreign objects into the testing center.   Matters Arising >>The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) and four other major labor unions in Ghana's public universities have announced an indefinite strike that will begin on Monday, October 17, 2022. This is because on Friday, October 14, at a meeting hosted by the National Labor Commission (NLC), the government rejected a "suggestion" regarding their demands. The four labor unions—UTAG, Teachers and Educational Workers Union-Ghana (TEWU-GH), Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), and Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG)—were meeting to settle their demands for fuel, vehicle maintenance, and off-campus allowances. Which still some of the students fear to even meet for group discussion and also do their online Exams. some unexpected incidents like crashing Mobile phones and attacks when they see you capturing their activities or movement, a lecturer was sprayed with the gas in fire extinguisher, (TA) Teaching assistant who was invigilating in one of the ongoing examinations was mishandle, spraying of the fire extinguishers just to show signals to students ahead of them, blocking of entrance to some campuses,        The Lecturer sprayed with fire extinguisher's gas all the above activities took place in Monday's demonstration activities...............   Following the current issues circulating in the media, concerning UEW level 400 students not able to access their results for the previous years, the entire students in level 400 from different departments decided to embark on a demonstration against the school authorities incapable to resolve their issue till now. they gave signal in the school by spread the schools fire extinguishers and disorganizing the lecture halls with the aim of not allowing the school to start the end of Semester exams for level 100 to level 300 which was a day before today ... Monday  10th October  2022.  the whole idea is that, when they allow the other levels to have their examination done and vacate, the school  authorities may not consider their plead talk of resolving it... still ongoing, they start their demonstration this morning in the school's  south  campus,  which was quite  smooth, to do but worsen up to the level of making the campus  not conduci...

GH¢3.1bn pension fund transferred to labour unions

The government paid 3.1 billion cents in Tier 2 pension funds into various union pension scheme custody accounts. This ends his six-year dispute between the government and unions over how the fund should be managed. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, speaking at a press conference in his first year in office, said the struggle between the unions and the government was over thanks to sound economic policies introduced by the government. “We were able to transfer about 3.1 billion cents of a Tier 2 pension fund into a union pension plan custody account, which had been unpaid for his six years and the union had expressed dissatisfaction,” he said. According to sources, Nana Clark, the Tufuhene of Akwakrom in Ekumfi and the man suspected of killing Georgina Aso Botchwey, a 25-year-old prospective nursing student, has passed away while being held by the police. Our sources claim that Nana Clark ingested some poison as he realized his arrest was about to happen. Nana Clark served as both the Mankessim Traders Association's president and the Tufuhene of Akwakrom in Ekumfi. In court, Nana and his accomplice were accused of killing Georgina and burying her body in a residential apartment. Nana was on trial for these crimes.
