Update% UTAG about to Strike

A labor strike is likely, according to Professor Ransford Yaw Gyampo, General of the University of Ghana branch of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).

This was made public by Prof. Ransford Gyampo in a statement on Monday, September 26.

Professor Gyampo, General Secretary, was responding to President Nana Addo's jeering at the recently concluded Global Citizen Concert in Accra's Black Star Square.

He asserts that the majority of Ghanaians are dissatisfied with the country's current situation, as evidenced by their polite responses and avowed culture.

"We will speak against this act of disrespect against the President and the PRESIDENCY, regardless of how angry we are," Professor Gyampo wrote. "Yes, we are hungry, but we cannot eat with both hands when we find food."Even in difficult times, a few party appointees are enjoying themselves and requesting that the rest of us continue to tighten our belts.

In the meantime, on January 10 of this year, UTAG announced a strike in protest of member service conditions.

However, after leadership and the government reached an agreement on a plan to improve members' conditions, the Association called off the strike in March.

However, Prof. Gyampo, General Secretary of the University Teachers Association's University of Ghana branch, is hinting that the Association may strike once more.
